Babak Govan, Ph.D

Dr. Govan is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. He received a BS in Microbiology from California State University, Northridge (CSUN), an MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Individual, Family, and Couples Psychotherapy from California School of Professional Psychology and an MA in Organizational Behavior from Marshall Goldsmith School of Management. Dr. Govan is a current member of the Oregon Psychological Association. He has developed an independent theory of human behavior that is being prepared for professional publication.

Dr. Govan currently practices individual, couples, and group psychotherapy with adults. Dr. Govan’s approach is integrative and positive. He enjoys the process of assisting clients to develop increased self-awareness and by identifying individual strengths, skills, and resources, to gain the confidence necessary to take action towards an improved well-being in all of life’s domains.

While as a generalist clinician, he treats common depressive/anxious conditions, relational concerns, anger mismanagement, and stress mismanagement, his clinical specialties/interests include self-defeating behaviors, co-occuring psychological and medical conditions (e.g. pain management), couples-related concerns, bicultural concerns, AD/HD assessment, test/performance anxiety, sleep difficulties, grief/loss, and difficulties identifying educational/vocational interests or hobbies.

Dr. Goban has provided psychological services and taught courses at Pacific University, Oregon, Los Angeles Valley College, CSUN, Moorpark College, and Los Angeles Pierce College, and has provided consulting services to Goodwill and City of Hope Medical and Research Center, among other organizations.

Away from work, he is a published author and enjoys recording music, artwork, fish-keeping, and traveling.
