Buprenorphine Treatment Program
The clinicians at HealthWorks NW understand the literature and science behind opiate addiction and dependence. The current medical literature reveals improved rates of treatment engagement, and recovery when patients are provided the opportunity to extend their detoxification over a period of months. This reflects scientific understanding of the regions of the brain responsible for triggering relapse behavior in patients suffering from addictive disease.
When a Healthworks NW client chooses to extend their detoxification and “maintain” their dependence on opiates to allow a slow, gradual taper of the medication Buprenorphine/naloxone or Suboxone it is important that this treatment occur in a structured environment that maintains the focus on the cognitive and behavioral aspects of recovery.
We understand that change takes time.
Due to the significance of diversion (selling “bupe” on the street) HealthWorks NW has developed a structured, accessible program to ensure improved success and safety of outpatient opiate addiction treatment with Suboxone.
ALL Suboxone treatment patients will be expected to attend Level One Treatment for the entire time you are taking Suboxone.
- Weekly 1.5 group (this is offered at seven convenient times at our facility)
- Twice monthly urine drug screen
- Monthly M.D. visit for medication management
At completion of the Suboxone taper, many patients are encouraged to start treatment with the opiate blocker Naltrexone to continue to help the brain forget the reward programming surrounding opiates. Naltrexone treatment requires a physician visit every three months and this medicine is not a medication which causes physical dependence.
