Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient Programs (groups)
Intensive Outpatient Treatment, commonly referred to as IOP, provides a high level of support for early recovery from addiction. This level of care allows the individual to stay in their community and continue to function at home and work, while addressing serious chemical dependency issues. Hazelden provides an outstanding quality of care in our IOP programs. Our treatment philosophy is based on our belief that addiction to chemicals is a bio-psycho-social disease with complex interactions between each of these forces in the addict’s life. Treatment explores the relationships between a persons biological processes in the addiction, to their psychology, beliefs, thinking, and emotions. The group participants become valuable resources of support and feedback as the client moves through the change process. Ultimately the client’s sociology changes as they develop strong community based supports for their recovery from chemical dependency. We use a Twelve Step recovery model as the foundation of the treatment experience, in combination with cognitive behavioral and psycho-dynamic approaches. Some of the issues commonly dealt with in group are stress management, eastern and western meditation, communication skills, and relapse prevention.
We offer treatment groups during morning hours as well as in the evenings. In addition, we offer the option of a family program to provide education and support to the clients family members. Families attend the lectures and have their own support group as well as a series of family counseling sessions which support the family in the healing process.
